Petrochemical Feedstock Supply

Core Feedstock Portfolio

The Heydar Aliyev Refinery provides a diverse range of chemical precursors essential for the production of plastics, polymers, and synthetic materials.

Straight-Run Naphtha

Azerikimya (EP-300 unit)

Primary input for steam cracking to produce ethylene and propylene.

Propane-Propylene Fraction (PPF)

SOCAR Polymer

Used for the production of high-density polyethylene and polypropylene.

Butane-Butylene Fraction (BBF)

Export & Domestic Industry

Essential for synthetic rubber and MTBE production.

Dry Gas (C1-C2)

Azerikimya

Utilized in pyrolysis and as a specialized fuel for chemical plants.

Integrated Supply Chain Services

The refinery’s offer goes beyond simple product sales; it provides an integrated logistical and technical service designed to ensure the stability of the petrochemical value chain:

  • Continuous Pipeline Delivery: Direct pipeline links to the Azerikimya Steam Cracking Plant ensure a seamless, "just-in-time" flow of naphtha and gaseous feedstock, minimizing storage overhead and transportation risks.

  • Modernized Storage & Filling: A newly commissioned LPG filling station and a fleet of specialized tank farms (including 22 new storage units) allow for the rail and pipeline export of nearly 180,000 tons of propane-propylene annually.

  • Custom Chemical Specification: Through its new laboratory and units like the C4 Hydrogenation and Naphtha Separator, the refinery can tailor the purity and composition of feedstock to meet specific industrial requirements (e.g., Euro-5 standards).

Impact of the Modernization Project

Recent upgrades have significantly enhanced the refinery's capacity to serve the petrochemical sector:

Production Stability

The installation of 19 new units (including Fluid Catalytic Cracking and Isomerization) has increased the yield of high-value light products.

Efficiency Gains

By integrating refining and petrochemistry, SOCAR has reported a potential increase in profitability from 17% to 25-35% due to lower-cost internal feedstock transfers.

Sustainability

New sewage treatment and flare systems ensure that the feedstock production process adheres to modern environmental mandates.
